gratitude-giveaway-3_question

Thank you everyone for participating in our month long focus on gratitude. It has been such a delight to see how creativity has played a role in all of your lives. I have read every single one of the entries and have greatly enjoyed reading about your creative journeys. For me, I was especially hit with how many of us were mentored by our mothers. After I got over my panic feeling of “I’m not doing enough with my girls,” I started to be grateful for what I have done. I am grateful for the reminder that even the littlest effort goes such a long way in nurturing creativity.

We wrap our final Gratitude Giveaway #3 with posting some of this week’s entries. Thank you to everyone for taking the time to write in!

Lizzie Renville

I was raised by a Hippee and a Beatnik, both extremely creative and talented. We were raised green and were creative with our resources for financial and environmental reasons. Making art projects was a big part of my childhood. As a busy adult I found creativity to be a salve for life’s rough spots, like comfort food from my childhood. As a mother of two boys with anxiety and ADHD, taking time to be creative was crucial, my me time. I would unplug my Mommy self and let my creative side soar. I’ve always made green art, repurposing and recycling like my parents did. The thrill of making something beautiful from something headed for the landfill never gets old. For me, upcycling and creativity go hand in hand. I am grateful for the opportunity to be creative in my daily life. Nunn Design findings provide a solid base for my jewelry and lend strength and durability when paired with various upcycled components. I feel very blessed to be able to express myself creativly and be authentic every day.” -Lizzie Renville

Kathy Garrison

Creativity is an important part of my life. I use it not only to express myself, but also as a way to think of others. I love making handmade gifts and the idea of thinking of someone special while creating something for him/her is always a good way to spend the day.” – Kathy Garrison

Sonia Bailey

I started making jewelry about 10 years ago and this year I found Nunn Designs. I always knew I had a creative instinct but after a severe bout of depression and some counseling, it was suggested to do something each day just for me and I chose creativity to relax me. I made a pair of earrings the first time, nothing great but after that the ideas just flowed.
I get so intense when I am creating designs and excited when someone purchases my jewelry, which in turn helps subside the turmoil that goes on inside.
I check on Nunn Design website most days to gain inspiration and check out the new products, creativity is my form of relaxation which in turn keeps depression at bay. Thank you!” – Sonia Bailey

Sabrina Koebel

Creativity has truly been a blessing in my life. It has allowed me to quit my job and pursue my art full-time while providing an income. I am also thankful that I have been able to share my creative passion with my children and to see their individual creativity grow to provide them an outlet to express themselves and see that they can earn their own income by doing what they love.” – Sabrina Koebel

Juli Geldmacher

I create to relive the stress of my life and I have used it to create a stronger bond with my daughter. My jobs have been very stressful (I.e. Government, medical office, and currently accounting). When I would get home from work, and my daughter from school, we would do our chores/homework and then after we had dinner, we go up to “the craft room” and we would make. It didn’t matter what, as long as we were being creative. She would take over the guest bed and I would sit at the desk, we would put a movie on or listen to music and we would make things. Sometimes I’d sew or make a few cards, but mostly I made jewelry. She would collage, or draw mainly, but she’d try her had at the jewelry too. When I started selling my pieces at craft fairs she always wanted to come and help out. After awhile she even made some jewelry to sell herself. In this age of electronic devices I have been very glad that I have been able to share creative time with my daughter, instead of us each caught up in our own little worlds of Facebook, and snapchat, etc.” – Juli Geldmacher
