Can I just say how much I LOVE Nunn classes?!?
Becky, you are a creative powerhouse, and I draw so much inspiration from your energy. Not just in my jewelry making, but in all of my creative exploits. Your ‘no fear’ attitude energies me and your style pushes me to further heights. (Your style is classy and calm – mine is crazy and all-over-da-place.) I love your creations so much, and they always remind me to step out of my typical color schemes and comfort zone. I have the Nunn catalog and some project photos printed out, laminated, and tucked into my inspiration binder. Ok, ok – they stay at the top. Why? They represent more than the beautiful projects to me – they motivate me to keep reaching, to never settle or become complacent, always go for it (who else knows – or cares – if it’s a fail?), and that selflessness in art is just as important as the creative process. (You get more out of sharing and helping than by keeping techniques secret.) These lessons and motivations translate across all areas of art whether it’s paint, candles, jewelry, etc. You just espouse positivity in art…and that spills over into life.
Those are just the first reasons that jump to mind why I keep those photos at the beginning of my binder.
I also wanted to quickly say…wa6it. Do I say anything quickly?! Ha I LOVE, LOVE the decision to expand the Buy and Try program. Nunn is THE PLACE to get interesting inclusions and findings – and I love that. It’s a great feeling to have such a supportive resource behind you (especially when the feeling of lonely, flailing artist/designer/production manager/customer service aficionado/etc sweeps over you) and know you have a one-stop spot to take in different ideas, new objects, and just rest in a calming place. At least that’s what Nunn does for me. And I can’t be the only one.
To anyone on the fence about participating in the spring semester of Nunn classes, I say JUMP! WITH BOTH FEET! You get so much out of the classes – even if you don’t participate in the FB group or anything other than the classes. (Although the FB group and supplemental resources add monumentaly to the overall experience.) The classes are chock full of indispensible information and you will learn things – even if you think you already know how to do it. Becky has a way of discovering little tricks and then expertly laying out the process in simple, easy-to-understand method. And if you fail? SO WHAT. That’s another thing I’ve learned from Becky. You just try again. The projects are things easily tweaked to make them your own – and the best part? You buy one kit and it has everything you need…for all five weeks! Nowhere has the kit AND the classes for such a nominal fee – everything works out to be ridiculously inexpensive. It’s almost costing you not to take the classes. Plus, you will miss out on the opportunity to do something just for you – stress free. The gals at Nunn have taken all the stress out and have an innate ability to provide a calm atmosphere for participants to learn. And learn you will! So much more than the already in-depth project list…you will acquire a quiet strength to trust yourself and your personal design process. You will find new feathers in your creative wings and will find they fully expand in ways you never expected. So shake off those wings and get going – Nunn semester classes are some of my favorite times of the year and I want everyone to experience the awesomeness that comes from totally submitting to the creative process. You deserve the uplift you will feel when you focus on your creative spirit. There’s a difference in creating to sell, and creating to nurture your artistic self. I promise.
And back to the offerings Nunn has put out…OH MY!! You’ve hit it out if the park! I love the unique things and even more I love that the items are so versatile. They aren’t strictly for Nunn products – even though they compliment Nunn items perfectly. Use them to expand your repertoire in any medium you find interesting.
Longest comment to a post ever! Before the tangent my purpose was to express my excitement for the spring semester classes, marvel at all the Buy and Try items, and let you know how thrilled I am with the fun tidbits being offered. WOOT!! I think Nunn is perfectly amazing and I wouldn’t change a thing – then you ladies wave your wands and kablam! It’s even better! I will never understand how you do it but it sure is fun to watch – and an even better resource!
Thank you for all you do – your hard work is appreciated. I love the way things are and am so glad Nunn remains a phenomenal resource for so many.
I feel totally lacking, but how does one reply to that.
First response, “wow”.
The second one is, “thank you”.
Thank you Katherine for seeing the whole Nunn Design Team fully and appreciating that which we strive so very patiently and steady forward to do. It is so wonderful to be recognized!!
Becky
What she said!
But, in 3 words!!!!
Thank you!
Becky
This is a great idea!
