Creativity, Art and Makers are Essential + Video
Expressing one’s creativity is a vulnerable and risky business. Putting something out in the world and stating “hey, I made this” is an incredibly difficult thing to do. But, I believe from birth, we are wired as human beings to express our creativity.
If you watch a small child, you can see that they are filled with ideas and a passion for expressing them. Over time, that child might be shamed for not drawing something right or for coloring outside the lines. With each experience, the child forms a belief that what they are creating, has no or little value.
The truth about that little one is that they are more fabulous than they could ever imagine. It is our jobs as humans to nurture and encourage that child to keep going. To just grab another sheet of paper and create again and again and again!
What if we could start to tell ourselves that same message?
What if we took on the belief that – art is essential? That creativity is essential?
What if we took on the belief that the jobs and the work that maker’s who take the risks and put themselves out there and say “I made this,” is essential.
We together can create this world.
One human being at a time.
