Create a Color Inspiration Board

I don’t know if you have ever had this experience, but I often do. When it comes time to mixing colorants into resin,  all of a sudden I can’t think of a single color I want to create. I just go blank. But, I don’t stay stuck for long because I have a file where I store color inspiration ideas. Do you?

Here are some of my favorite places to find color inspiration:

1.  Interior Area Rugs

3.  Soaps and lotion packaging

4.  Nature!

This should actually be number one, because ultimately it is the source of all! Google search colors in nature and be ready to be inspired and in awe!

The list could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. The most important thing is to get out there and start looking at combinations of color.

To organize your color inspirations, you could:

  • Add them to a Pinterest Board
  • Take screen shots and organize a file titled “color combinations”.
  • Rip out pages from magazines and catalogues. Start a color file folder
  • Create color swatches of your own by just playing and documenting.

Do you have a favorite place for color inspiration?
