Artisan Spotlight: Dawn Sagar

Dawn is the warehouse manager here at Nunn Design and today marks her 1-year anniversary! Dawn is the person responsible for managing our warehouse crew and making sure that all of your orders are shipped in a timely manor. So, all of you should know, she is a very big and important part of our team.

Besides being awesome and having amazing organizational skills, Dawn is a crazy good artist. Although jewelry making is a fairly new medium for her, her Masters of Fine Art set her up for great success. Dawn also has experience managing an art supply warehouse for several years, so she is often the person that all of us turn to when we want to know “ah, if I mix this with that…what will happen?”

Here are some great pieces that Dawn has done in our Nunn Design Quarterly Art Day.

This piece, right off, shows you the knowledge of fine art supplies that Dawn brings to her jewelry. This necklace is created with Pebeo Mixed Media Opalescent Reactive Paints (say that three times fast!). First she applied the Fantasy Moon Pebeo Paints and once dried, she poured the Nunn Design 2 Part Resin over it. Such a great look!

I featured these pieces once before, but I just love them so. Right out of the gate, these are Dawn’s first experiments with Crystal Clay. Can I just say, these pieces are remarkable?!!! It isn’t easy to pull this look off successfully. But Dawn’s sense of balance and design makes these pieces stunning.

Even though Dawn dove right into using 2-part resin, she came to the table with a vast amount of reading under her belt before she mixed her first cup! The results are apparent to her dedication to learning and gathering knowledge. Must be all the MFA work she did!! Good study habits!

A couple months back, we partnered with our friends over at LillyPilly Designs. Heidi has created her cabochons to fit the Nunn Design Bezels. You can download a cheat sheet here. Dawn jumped right into designing with these pieces and created these two fantastic pieces.
