I have been having great fun with the Nunn Design Resin as of late. I was recently in California at the Craft and Hobby Association Tradeshow, so I jumped on the chance to film a couple of my experiments with the team at Beadaholique. If you are looking for some new projects to teach, a new technique to explore or just to have a heads up on what people are watching these days on You Tube, take a look at these 9 free new videos from Nunn Design.
In these videos I don’t talk at all about how to mix the Nunn Design Resin. For videos on how to work with 2-part resin, educate yourself by reviewing free resin videos on our blog, (15 Free DIY Jewelry Videos!). I hope that we can inspire and nurture your creativity!
1. How to Add Opaque Pigments to 2-Part Resin
Adding opaque pigments to Nunn Design Resin is easy. Once the resin is mixed fully, use a toothpick to add a drop of opaque pigment to the resin and stir to create unique vibrant colors. In all of the videos, I’m working with ETI’s Castin’ Craft Opaque Pigments and applying the colored resin to the Nunn Design Flat Tags and Bezels. Love this great look!2. How to Create a Faux French Enamel Look
I just love the look of French Enamelware and this video shows my attempt to create a faux French enamel look for jewelry. After adding Castin’ Craft Opaque White Pigment to my mixed Nunn Design Resin, I poured them into a series of Flat Tags and Bezels. Once cured, I applied the Nunn Design Word Transfer Sheet to the top and sealed with Nunn Design Sealant. I must confess this is my favorite video!3. How to Make Colorful Rings with 2-Part Resin and Pigment
Once you have the technique down of mixing resin and adding opaque pigments to it, you can go to town filling junk. In this video I make a ring and add some Nunn Design Brass Embellishments onto the top once it is cured. Super cute.4. How to Add 2-Part Resin to a Curved Surface
I had been curious on how to add resin to a curved surface, but didn’t want to invest in “resin for a curved surface”. There is such a resin, but I’m a “make-do” kinda gal. So, this came about when I was messing around with some almost too hard resin I had mixed up. In this video I show how to apply the resin to a bangle bracelet that I had made using epoxy clay (How To Texturize Crystal Clay With Rubber Stamps). In this video, I added Castin’Craft Transparent Dyes to the Nunn Design Resin. It looks almost like glaze don’t you think?5. How to Incorporate Organic Matter into 2-Part Resin
In this video, I cover how to use the Nunn Design Open Back Bezels and how to incorporate organics into the Nunn Design Resin. I live in the Pacific Northwest and have access to all sorts of weeds and plants, but this technique works great with dried flowers or pressed flower from wedding bouquets and such.6. How to Make a Pearl Beaded Ring with 2-Part Resin
I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of beads about my work area. This project was inspired by a piece that Innovation Team Member Erin Prais-Hintz created for us a couple years ago. When working with my premixed and quickly hardening Nunn Design Resin one day, I grabbed a handful of beads and added them to the resin and quickly scooped them into a Nunn Design Ornate Ring. Super fun!7. How to Make a Faux Druzy Pendant with Mica Powder and 2-Part Resin
Innovation Team Member, Stephanie Gard Buss has done a lot of playing with a faux druzy look. This video shows how to mix Mica Powders to Nunn Design Resin to create a great look. In this video I’m using Crystal Clay Mica Powders. Jacquard also has a great section on Mica’s under the brand Pearl Ex Powders. (See more at: How to Colorize Nunn Design Resin with Pearl Ex Powders).8. How to Add Mica Powder to Sealant
Alright, I’m cheating. This video doesn’t use any Nunn Design Resin, but it is super cool, so I threw it in. This video talks about how to colorize Nunn Design Brass Embellishments using Nunn Design Sealant and Mica Powders to create one of-a-kind jewelry focal points. This is great for the beginner as well as advanced artisan.9. How to Use Images with Open Back Bezels and 2-Part Resin
We have several connectors and flat tags that have open holes, all great places for adding an image. In this video I cover how to prepare your artwork with using Nunn Design Glue, how to attach tape and create a surface for pouring the Nunn Design Resin. What Do you Think?
I’m excited to hear which videos you enjoyed. With your feedback we will create downloadable tutorials that you can print out and teach others how to use resin in these creative ways. Leave us a comment or email me at becky@nunndesign.com.
